ZZ Claudio Hoffmann & Pilar Alvarez

From a background of intensive study, dedication an devotion to their craft, Pilar Alvarez and Claudio Hoffmann have spend the globe, creating and performing some of the most original and spiring dance of the modern age.

They directed and performed the choreography along witn Marijó Alvarez, for the higly acclaimed film “Tango, the spirit of Argentina” by the Public Broadcasting Corporation.

 

Alvarez and Hoffmann began their professional career with some of the best-known composer of the gender, including Horacio Salgán, Antonio Agri, Néstor Marconi, Leopoldo Federico and Daniel Binelli.

 

It can accurately be said that  all the world is a stage for this solist couple.

Claudio Hofmann and Pilar Alvarez were members of Tango pasion Company and together with the Sexteto Mayor Orchestra, have performed in New York, Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg, Mosccow, Paris, Athens, Madrid, Montecarlo, Taiwan, Singapore, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney.

 

They were invited to take part in The Night of the Stars with The National Ballet of Finland where they performed their own choreography; and also to “Gala des Etoiles du XXI Siécle” at Théatre des Champs-Elysées of Paris; Toronto Arts Center and  The Lincoln Center of New York.

 

Also they have been performing with the San Francisco Symphony , Buffalo Philarmonic Orchestra, Sinfóncia de Montevideo and Hong kong Chamber Orchestra  together with Daniel Binelli (bandoneon) and Polly Ferman (piano) in ORQUESTANGO.

 

Pilar Alvarez and Claudio Hoffmann founded the Tango Express Company in 1995. Since then, they  presented EXPRESO TANGO, TANGO METROPOLIS, TANGO & NOCHE under the Musical direction of Daniel Binelli.

Together, they has been performed in the I Tango Festival of Buenos Aires, where a magazine defined it as “an excellent company” and “the most interesting entry of the Festival (1998); at the Teatro Teresa Carreño in Caracas (1999), The III Festival of Art of Shanghai (2001), 25 cities in Japan (2002 and 2006) , Centro Cultural de Belen-Lisbon (2003), as well in France, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Italy  (Since 2003 to 2014) .

 

Recently, they have presented “LORCA TANGO” (based on the work of Federico García Lorca: “Bodas de sangre”) and “COMPLICIDADES, Tango & Flamenco” at The Biennal de Flamenco of Buenos Aires 2013 and at Granada Tango Festival 2014, where they were honored with the prize “ EL ABRAZO” for this work.
