9h classes: 90 €
material supplied and finished product taken away
Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday from 10 am to 1 pm
Fileteado is a traditional Argentine art, painting and decorative drawing that has become the visual identity of Buenos Aires. In 2015, it was declared a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The material is provided and you will leave at the end of the workshop with your own fileteado.
This 3-day workshop will offer a comprehensive introduction to the traditional Fileteado Porteño technique.
It will begin with a historical overview, showing the works of great masters and the current use of Fileteado in Argentina and abroad. Under Gustavo's guidance, participants will then practise drawing the traditional elements of Fileteado: bolitas, flowers and acanthus leaves. We will finish by showing how to draw a complete work using these elements.
On the second and third days, you will be given a step-by-step structural approach to painting a complete sign.
Working from a common design, and using acrylics and special Fileteado brushes, participants will first paint flat colours, then shadows, highlights and glows to gain first-hand experience of the full Fileteado technique.
