Fileteado Workshop: lettering to the rhythm of tango

9h classes: 90 €

material supplied and finished product taken away

Thursday Friday Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm

Fileteado is a traditional Argentine art, painting and decorative drawing that has become the visual identity of Buenos Aires. In 2015, it was declared a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The material is provided and you will leave at the end of the workshop with your own fileteado.

In this 3-day workshop, we will immerse ourselves in the world of Fileteado painted letters. We will first study the basic rules of composition and spacing applicable to the different alphabets, then we will delve into the characteristics of Fileteado letters with their particular decorations and fantasies and their bodies whose volumes are generated by a play of light and shadow. Each student will then draw and decorate a letter of their choice.

As a final project, we will paint a panel with the word TANGO, using acrylics and special Fileteado brushes, starting with flat colours, then shadows, lights and glitters. In this way, we will study the complete process of painting a threaded letter.
