"Woman’s gaze, the songwriters of the 21st century (tango and rioplatense song)"

In this lecture, I present a panorama of the current tango written by women. From my book "Mirada de mujer, las letristas del siglo XXI (tango y canción rioplatense)", a compilation that brings together contemporary women writers.

This book seeks to make visible the work of women composers in tango and the adjacent genres of rioplatense music. To value and make known the work of women within this popular genre which, historically, has been written almost entirely from the male point of view and which has often made the work of women invisible.

This work analyses the poetry of these contemporary authors and puts them in context within the socio-economic and political framework in which these works take place. It is a shortcut of the production of this century, but I also make a historical reminder of the important figures who preceded us, this work is also a tribute to these figures and their heritage.

During the conference, I project images and videos with some musical examples.
