"Vivre et Rêver Tango"
Last exhibition before dispersion of the collection
A recreation of Alain Laborde Laborde's dreamlike, phantasmagorical universe, in which Tango always played a central role, being the axis and driving force of his creative power. The artist died in November 2020. He had developed a rich imagination around dance, which he also practised.
The exhibition of paintings and mobiles will recreate the tango ballroom designed by the artist in the basement of his Tarbes home on rue Byé, with its painted windows opening onto a world of dancers soaring above Tarbes to the rhythm of the bandoneon. His large silhouettes of men and women still resonate with the atmosphere of the milongas of Buenos Aires. In his "shoes transatlantic liner", he poetically illustrated a dreamlike, imaginary journey inspired by the migration to Latin America that a few Tarbes residents, among many others, had undertaken as early as the 19th century.
Come and see his world, so deeply rooted in Tarbes culture, in the large fresco on the Caminito San Pedro.
