In 2025, the Slovenian Piazzolleky Quintet reached an important milestone by creating its own Orquesta Típica, a full-scale tango ensemble modeled after those from the golden age .
This impressive formation—featuring four bandoneons, three violins, viola, piano, guitar, double bass, and vocals—unites orchestral richness, emotional depth, and the unmistakable color of authentic Argentine tradition.
It is this exceptional Orquesta Típica that will appear first time at Tango en Tarbes, bringing a powerful and moving sound shaped by the ensemble’s unique blend of precision, passion, and artistic maturity. Their performance offers a rare opportunity to experience the full expressive force of a traditional tango orchestra performed at the highest level – and, beyond that, to enjoy a perfectly danceable repertoire designed for the Milonga.
For nearly two decades, the Piazzolleky Quintet has stood among Europe’s most acclaimed tango groups, combining the elegance of classical music, the virtuosity of jazz, and the fiery temperament of traditional Argentine tango. Founded in 2006 with the aim of recreating the legendary sound of Astor Piazzolla, they have performed on nearly 300 stages across Europe and in China, and released several warmly received studio recordings. Their vast repertoire—ranging from classical masterpieces to original arrangements and contemporary interpretations—ensures that every performance is both unique and unforgettable.
