Biopic and history (political drama)

In 1973, Uruguay was transformed into a dictatorship. Three political opponents were secretly imprisoned by the new military power. Thrown into small cells, they are forbidden to talk, see, eat or sleep. As their bodies and minds are pushed to the limits of what is bearable, the three hostages wage an existential struggle to escape a terrible reality that condemns them to madness. The film recounts the 12 years of imprisonment lived by three of the most famous figures in contemporary Uruguay – including its former president, José Pepe Mujica.
