MURIEL LOUETTE
A tango: for better or for worse
This artist, a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, is a lecturer at the Lorient School of Fine Arts. In 2024, she began drawing works centred on the unique world of tango.
Her drawings lend a sense of truth to this world – one that is funny, exciting and even uplifting. They also offer an artist’s perspective on society as a whole, as we observe not only the male–female dynamic, but also how we exist – or fail to exist – in the eyes of others; the ambiguities; the acceptance or rejection of assigned roles; unspoken thoughts brought to light; and the complications that arise even before things have begun…
The artist will be giving a talk entitled ‘Notes de tango’ on Saturday 15th at the Théâtre Les Nouveautés, where he will explain his approach to creating a comic strip.
